Hi, I'm Ophelia
At just 1.5 years old and 20 Ibs, Ophelia has already overcome so much. She came into rescue at only 11.8 Ibs, severely underweight, pee-stained, and clearly confined for much of her life. But even then, she had a spark, she wanted love, and she still does.
After a short-lived adoption where she showed fear-based behaviors (snapping toward a husband and child), Ophelia returned to FBV. She needs an adult-only home with patient people who respect her boundaries and allow her to build trust at her own pace.
Today, she's healthy, happy, and full of life, finally enjoying the puppyhood she missed. She's a total Velcro dog, deeply devoted once she chooses her person, and happiest when she's by your side.
Ophelia thrives with small female dogs (she loves her foster sister!) but is not a fit for male or large dogs. She can be protective of her people and space, especially around food and rest time, so structure is key.
She's playful, energetic, and a little goofy-loving tug, toys, and nonstop interaction. After she burns energy, she turns into the sweetest snuggler. She's crate trained, housebroken (with routine), and great in the car.
She'll need a home where someone is around most of the day, no apartment/condo living, and a calm environment to continue building confidence. Some initial separation anxiety and noise sensitivity should be expected.
Ophelia is equal parts silly, sensitive, and deeply loving.
She's come so far and is ready for a family who will truly see her and give her the life she deserves.
